On August 29th 2005, the “dog owners liability act” was passed.
This law states that all pitbulls no matter where they come from and no matter what they look or act like are to be muzzled & leashed at all times and kept away from basically life.
This means that even though the dog could be the most friendly innocent animal... by law, it must be kept away from civilisation, muzzled at all times, and kept indoors or outdoors but caged/fenced in. This makes no sense to me. We are basically exiling a certain breed of dog just because it was a kind of breed dog fighters use in underground fights. This is like discriminating human races. For example, let’s pretend Canada has the highest domestic violence rate in the world. So to try and stop this, we arrest, charge, or confine every single canadian no matter what circumstances. They can be 1 year old or 30, tall or short, small and big. How is this justice?
Now, all pit-bulls never get to enjoy their lives outside their owners home. Obviously life inside a human’s house is pretty good. Free food, warmth, and usually a loving family but none the less, that dog should be able to run free or even just go out on a walk to the park in the daytime every once in awhile! I think that we need to change the way we look at things.
